December Low Carb Cocktail: Santa’s Holiday Nog

Happy Holidays! Let’s curl up by the fire, sip on a festive cocktail, and reflect on the weirdest year ever. I’ve loved sharing a new low carb drink recipe every month of 2020 and plan on continuing to share fun recipes to make at home throughout the new year.

Santa’s Holiday Nog is a staple in our family and probably one of the first cocktails I consumed around Christmas time with my parents. It’s easy to create and makes you feel a little extra holly jolly this time of year.

Now before you nog haters come after me, I made this Santa Holiday Nog recipe with Almond Nog from Trader Joe’s which offers a lot fewer carbohydrates (9g for 1/2 cup) than its egg toting counterpart (which using packs around 17g for 1/2 cup). It’s also dairy-free for anyone with sensitivity.

INGREDIENTS

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Take a lemon slice and line the top of a rocks glass with lemon juice.
  2. Empty your crushed peppermint onto a plate and press the top of the glass into the peppermint pile.
  3. Combine Kahlua, vodka, almond nog, and oat milk in a cocktail shaker with ice + shake it up.
  4. Strain into your rocks glass over ice.
  5. Garnish with a mini candy cane and enjoy!
  6. Optional: Instead of a lemon slice, dip your glass into melted chocolate and then dip into the crushed peppermint right away.
